The School of Law will host Chief Justice Myron T. Steele , of the Delaware Supreme Court, on Thursday, Nov. 3, for a discussion of current issues in corporate law. The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Mendenhall Appellate Courtroom at the School of Law, Malibu.
The Senate confirmed Governor Ruth Ann Minner's nomination of Myron T. Steele as Chief Justice on May 5, 2004; Steele is the 7th Chief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court. Before his appointment as Chief Justice, he served as a Supreme Court Justice from 2000 to 2004. Previously, he served as a Vice Chancellor of the Court of Chancery from 1994 to 2000, as Resident Judge of the Superior Court in Kent County from 1990 to 1994, and as a Superior Court Judge from 1988 to 1990.
Steele graduated from the University of Virginia (B.A., Foreign Affairs, 1967) and the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D., 1970; LL.M. 2005), and served on active duty in the U.S. Army and retired as a Colonel in the Delaware Army National Guard. He was a Deputy Attorney General, Senate (Delaware) Attorney and chair of the Consumer Affairs Board.
