I thought they were very restricted, and could only have ten round magazines, but i saw an australian shop's website which said it sold a beretta 92fs, which i thought was impossible to purchase.
To complement the other answerer of this question, I'm an Australian with limited knowledge of gun law. However, to the best of my understanding, possessing a firearm in this country without a licence is illegal. With a licence, I have no idea, I'm sorry. Good luck!
I'm hoping to get a short story published in an American magazine, or elsewhere as there doesn’t seem to be many magazines who publish them in Australia. I'm unfamiliar with the copyright laws there, and was wondering if, after the print run of...

Careers for Scientists in the Patenting World
For Tan and other scientists who want to stay close to science but leave the lab behind, the patenting world offers a range of rewarding careers focused on writing, examining, and disputing patents.
Filing patentsTan’s job as an Australian trainee patent attorney -- see this box for an explanation of the professional nomenclature in patent law -- is to help client inventors and companies protect their intellectual property rights by filing patent applications for their inventions. He meets clients to learn about their inventions and captures the essence of them in writing. The bulk of a patent application is a detailed description of the invention, laying down claims for what makes it "novel" and "inventive," as set out in the Australian Patents Act 1990 . Other countries and regions have similar legal requirements.
Tan, and patent professionals in similar positions, aim to make their clients' intellectual property protection as broad and robust as possible. So, when preparing an application for a new water bottle, “We wouldn’t actually draft the patent … for a water bottle,” Tan explains. Instead, he would describe the invention as “a fluid-containing receptacle” so that the patent covers fruit juice containers and milk cartons, too.
Legal research at The University of Queensland
Legal research at The University of Queensland
Legal researchers at The University of Queensland’s TC Beirne School of Law will benefit from funding of almost $1 million in the latest round of Australian Research Council grants.
Eight academics from the TC Beirne School of Law are among the successful recipients of government funding worth a total of $931,500 for legal research commencing in 2012.
Head of the School of Law, Professor Ross Grantham, who is among the 2012 grant recipients, said the awards were a reflection of the School’s internationally recognised research profile.
"I am delighted to announce that the School as a whole has done exceptionally well and my warmest congratulations are extended to all the academics and staff who contributed to this funding success," he said.
"The ARC funding schemes are highly competitive and this year’s success acknowledges the effort and dedication our academics place in the pursuit of high-quality, innovative legal research which provides benefits for the practice of law, industry and the wider community....
Australia carbon tax law passed | OFW Magazine
Australia's lower house of parliament has narrowly passed a bill for a controversial carbon tax.
The legislation would force about 500 of the biggest polluters to pay for each tonne of carbon dioxide they emit.
The tax is central to the government's strategy to combat climate change, but the opposition says it will cause job losses and raise the cost of living.
Australia is the world's largest coal exporter and is one of the biggest per capita greenhouse gas emitters.
"Today is a significant day for Australians and the Australians of the future who want to see a better environment," Prime Minister Julia Gillard said before the vote.
After her Clean Energy Bill 2011 was passed with 74 votes for and 72 against, she hugged colleagues and waved to supporters in the public galleries.
The victory is an important one for the prime minister, whose popularity with voters in opinion polls has been declining against the opposition.
