Oakland Goes on Strike, Except for the Lawyers
We all know eDiscovery is a pain. It’s expensive, tedious and risky. But what if it could be speedy, safe and less costly? That’s where Recommind comes in.
In September, Recommind, the leader in predictive information management software, was highlighted in IDC’s “ MarketScape: The Worldwide Standalone Early Case Assessment Applications Report .”
The report analyzed early case assessment applications that incorporate research, text analytics, workflow automation and project management capabilities into a single product. Through in-depth surveys and customer interviews, IDC compared vendors’ capabilities and strategies, focusing on the factors most likely to influence success.
“Among the factors that made Recommind a top performer are the sophisticated and very robust analytics of the company’s Axcelerate® ECA & Collection application,” said Vivian Tero, program director at IDC.
Bob Siminski's First Meeting in Asia :: Intellectual Property Law Blog ...
This morning I met with a delegation of the State Intellectual Property Office led by Deputy Commissioner Yang Tiejun in Beijing. He participated in a question and answer session covering various topics. Some of the more interesting questions and answers were as follows:
Q: Due to government incentives, the number of new patent application filings has increased dramatically. Has this had an adverse effect on examination quality?
A: Generally speaking no. However, more examiners must be hired to keep examination quality high. It is our goal to double the number of examiners from 5,000 to 10,000 by 2015.
Q: Utility model patents are widely thought to deter innovation by causing more work and litigation for companies. Has the SIPO considered moving away from the utility model system?
A: The SIPO understands and is reviewing the problems and concerns with utility models. Alternatives are therefore under consideration. (The Commissioner gave no definitive answer with respect to moving away from utility models....
Audrey Editor-in-Chief, Anna Park on Her Career | Mochi Magazine
At 24, Anna M. Park was living a life that most Asian parents dream of for their children. She was working as an attorney in downtown L.A., making good money, and on paper, living a life of prestige. But after six years working in law, she quickly found herself approaching 30 lost and unhappy.
“Growing up, I loved writing, I loved fashion and I loved to travel,” she said. “But never in a million years did I think any of those passions could lead to a viable career. In our immigrant household, law and medicine were the two choices. And I couldn’t stand math.”
Park made up her mind to quit her job, packed her bags and headed for Asia, where she spent time hiking remote mountains, island hopping in the Philippines, exploring Medong Delta in Vietnam and climbing the Great Wall. She landed a writing job at an English-language travel magazine in Seoul and freelanced for KoreAm Journal, a magazine dedicated to Korean Americans. Then, Park received a call from Audrey magazine publisher James Ryu that changed her career forever. The magazine was just launching and he asked Park to hop on board. “Writing and fashion—it was pretty much a dream job for me,” Park said.
