New York Employment Discrimination Lawyer from The Perecman Firm Comments on ...

New York, New York (PRWEB) November 02, 2011

In recent New York employment law news, the Waldorf-Astoria hotel is being sued for age and race discrimination in New York in an age and race discrimination lawsuit (Index # 22865 of 2011) filed in Queens Supreme Court.

"Cases like this are a sad reminder that age discrimination and race discrimination are still problems in New York,” said New York civil rights violation lawyer David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New York’s workplace discrimination law firms .

Egyptian-born Samir Abdel-Mesih, 53, a banquet captain, is suing for lost pay and emotional distress, according to the New York Daily News.

According to the suit, Waldorf-Astoria management hired younger white managers to do the same job as captains like Abdel-Mesih.

The hotel also slashed tips and increased the work load, according to the workplace discrimination lawsuit . The gratuities for captains were cut 50%, resulting in the loss of nine captains, ranging in age from 50 to 91, reported the New York Daily News.

HR should trust its gut reaction on 'red tape' - People Management ...

Last week’s high quality Labour Relations Conference organised by Eversheds provided an excellent opportunity to assess the current employment climate in the UK. Venture capitalist Adrian Beecroft’s government-commissioned report seems set to advocate a wholesale reduction of ‘red tape’ to aid small business and further employment growth, including measures to reduce the ‘burden’ of employment regulation and ‘quell’ the cost of vexatious tribunal claims from troublesome employees and their trade unions....

Farrell v South Yorkshire Police Authority - People Management ...

Farrell was employed by South Yorkshire Police Authority as a principal intelligence analyst. He was required to produce a 'strategic threat assessment' covering matters including terrorism as part of this role. He produced the report and attached a document detailing his belief that 9/11 and 7/7 had been ‘false flag’ (disguised) operations, authorised by the UK and US governments to help garner support for foreign wars. He also stated his belief that the media was controlled by a global elite which overstated terror risks for the same purpose, and that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were morally wrong and had the sole purpose of furthering a 'new world order' – the goal of the 'global elite'. The tribunal held that his beliefs did not have the 'cogency and coherence' required to qualify as a 'philosophical belief' within the meaning of the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003, even though most of the requirements...
