Should we be more like other countries?
Should punishments here be like in some of these other countries?

Into the fray

Late Tuesday, MK Tzipi Livni entered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office in Jerusalem. This was a regular briefing session, one that Netanyahu is required by law to hold with the opposition leader. A third party was present for most of the meeting - Netanyahu's deputy military secretary, who left after 45 minutes. Livni exploited her 15 minutes of glory (if it can be called that ) with the premier to engage in a bitter argument about the Iranian issue. She believes that Israel would be foolish to launch an attack now, when heads of the security services oppose it. A few years ago, Livni declared that the Iranian threat was not an existential danger.

A day before their meeting, Livni addressed the prime minister in the Knesset: "Heed what Israel's top security officials have to say. Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud ) interjected, reminding Livni that the heads of the security establishment supported the Shalit deal, whereas she opposed it, in retrospect.

Since journalists must contend with the pressure of deadlines, this book is laid out like a dictionary, with the entries in alphabetical order. Each entry is brief and deals with issues that journalists would face in everyday writing....

As someone who is familiar with a number of other style guides, I thought the AP Stylebook was good, but nothing special.

Most decent guides, such as “The Yahoo! Style Guide,” give writing-style tips–the AP Stylebook does not. As far as writing is concerned, the AP guide simply lists certain words with their proper capitalization and usage.

On the other hand, the guide does include sections on common legal issues that reporters might run into. These issues vary from copyright law to explanations of legal trouble that could result from going undercover to get a story.
