I want to buy a 9mm Beretta Cx4 Storm. As you may know, this rifle can use magazines from a Beretta 92fs. But, doesn't the CA law say that rifles can only have a 10 round magazine? The 92fs mags will hold 15. Also, I am 20 years old, I can buy...
Nope. Over ten round detachable magazine+Pistol Grip= not CA legal. If you decide to become a cop, thats a different story. But as a regular civilian you are stuck. Maybe a 10/22 rinfire with a aftermarket stock for the look you like.....
The California firearms code says that you cannot buy or trade etc any magazine that holds more than 10 rounds. but in the very next sentence says "California does not ban the possession of I'm not familiar with that law, however, it sounds like a grandfather clause of sorts. The law seems to be aimed, not at the possession of large capacity magazines but, at the trade and/or purchase within state borders
large capacity magazines."
Best way to make a 10 round mag for XDM? - XDTalk Forums - Your ...
The new XDM 5.25 looks like a great competition pistol and I want to give it a try. Here is the catch, I live in California. Now I can get a XDM 5.25 thanks to the "Single Shot Conversion" process and take possession of the mags as long as they are not assembled. But the way California law reads its a Felony to assemble the mags unless I limit them to 10 rounds using rivets and epoxy. Here is one attempt by another guy: XD(M) Magazines I think what he is doing would work OK but as I read the law a rivet needs to be involved.
Magpul PMAG 10 Round Magazine | California PMAG | PMAG 10 30 |
The Magpul PMAG Magazine has been tested and re-tested and proves to be one of the toughest, virtually indestructable AR15 magazine on earth. Field tests have shown that even under the touhest of conditions, from being run over by a vehicle to being shot, has not resulted in a failure of the magazine. Magpul is most noteably known for their 30 round magazines but this article will address the need for restricted capacity magazines. Magpul does not make a 10 round PMAG Magazine which would be great for California shooters. California state law states that no magazine can hold more than ten rounds. Californian gun dealers have found a niche market in converting the Magpul PMAG Magazine into a magazine with a restricted capacity of only ten rounds. You get the look of a Magpul PMAG 30 round magazine while still following state law with a permanently restricted magazine that will only accept ten rounds.
The Mapul PMAG 30 Magazine is modified to hold ten rounds by either pinning or blocking the magazine, thus making the Magpul PMAG 10-30 Magazine . Pinned magazines are considered a permanent modification as it would require the use of a tool to make it hold more than ten rounds. Blocked magazines are not considered permanent and may result in trouble with the law. A blocked magazine can be converted into a high capacity magazine by simply removing the blocks. We have heard of companies that will block the magazine and then glue the magazine together to make it a permanent change. The only problem with this method is that the base plate can no longer be removed to clean the magazine nor can other Magpul accessories such as the Magpul Ranger Plates and Magpul Mariner Plates be installed.
