How much of the law should we follow according to the book of Romans? I have to answer this question for my hermeneutics paper, and i am stuck. I have read Romans several times, and it seems that we should obey only laws made in the new covenant...
Palmertech,
I would first focus around Rom 2:12ff.
The interesting thing about this verse is that it is possible to sin APART from the law. What then? [Of course, this applies to gentiles].
The Book of Romans - Hebrew Roots\ Messianic Perspective - 1 of 12 Emphasis - Romans: This is a verse by verse look at the overwhelming majority ...
Emphasis - Romans: This is a verse by verse look at the overwhelming majority of Paul's letter to the believers in Rome. This epistle is death ...
Some people say its void, some say God says to kill but it is spiritual...what does spiritual mean to you?????
It is the principality of the matter, then comes the practice.

HR 1505: Giant Land Grab For The Police State
Montana Republican Congressman Denny Rehberg lent his support for ceding more power and authority to the federal government’s emerging police state by supporting HR 1505, the “National Security and Federal Lands Protection Act.” This monstrous bill empowers the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to confiscate to itself tens of thousands of acres of land across the US northern border. This is for “national security” reasons, of course. Gag!
My friend, Dr. Ed Berry, has written a very astute summary and analysis of HR 1505 on his web site, PolyMontana.com. I am going to be borrowing heavily from his research in this column.
Dr. Berry rightly notes that the DHS is the giant head of no less than seven federal agencies: Transportation Security Administration (TSA), US Customs & Border Protection (CBP), US Citizenship & Immigration Services (CIS), US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), US Secret Service (SS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and US Coast Guard (USCG).
wordandspirit | Book Review–The Message of Romans (John Stott)
I heard the news of John Stott’s death only a couple of days after I started re-reading this Romans commentary. It was one of the first of the Bible Speaks Today series that I read, and for all the numerous things he will rightly be remembered for, I feel especially thankful for his contributions to and editorship of this series. In this volume, as with his other commentaries, John Stott models a truly evangelical approach to Scripture. He comes reverently to the Bible, believing it to be the very Word of God, eager to learn, ready to engage with difficulties of exegesis and doctrine, and most of all, expecting to encounter God through it.
A book like Romans of course is a daunting task for any Bible expositor. So many notable expositors and scholars have already tackled it in great depth. And there are many tricky theological issues it raises. What is “the righteousness of God”? What is the correct understanding of the doctrine of election? What place does the people and nation of Israel have in God’s ongoing plan? Who is the conflicted man of Romans 7? Was Junia an apostle? Whatever positions you take, you certainly can’t please all of the people all of the time in a commentary on Romans....
Romans 13: 10 bible verse and devotional for children ...
Childrens devotional for Romans 13: 10 This verse is actually about cheating. People who want God's blessings must abide by his laws of fairness and justice. If you love somebody you won't cheat them and we should love our neighbor as ourselves. God is so concerned about cheating and justice he has clearly set standards we should follow. If we can't be trusted with small things we won't be trusted for large matters. This verse is actually about cheating. People who want God's blessings must abide by his laws of fairness and justice. The implications and ramifications of this bill, should it become law, are staggering--and scary! PS Let me once again remind readers that my son Tim Baldwin and I have just released the second edition of our blockbuster book, “Romans 13: The TrueChristian Post (blog) - Dec 31, 1969
In a later section Stott offers some thoughts on what our attitude toward evil should be (according to Romans 12 and 13). He makes four points: evil is to be hated, evil is not to be repaid, evil is to be overcome and evil is to be punished.Murfreesboro Post - Dec 31, 1969
