Items in attic lead High Springs woman to publish book

"My heart was telling me something was still there," she said. "'There's something we have to find before we close this door for the last time.'"

There was literally nothing left within the empty rooms, so Afzal switched her focus to the attic. Her brother-in-law searched between the house's rafters, digging through insulation that Afzal's father had installed more than 15 years ago.

The two possessions he found buried amidst the dunes of insulation would become the basis for Afzal's book, "Treasures in the Attic: Gifts from a Woman of Faith."

"The monetary value was unimportant," she said. "But they were worth much more than any amount of silver and gold."

Even more astonishing than the preservation of the items was that they had even been stored. There were no conventional means of accessing the house's attic, and her grandmother, Lois Annie, had no recollection of ever placing the items there.

"No one really knows how they got there," Afzal said.

Australian Water Law - Thomson Reuters Australia

A complex web of state and federal legislation seeks to manage and protect water and water rights, which are also interwoven with property law and environmental law. This presents considerable challenges for practitioners who are advising on matters like access rights, statutory water entitlements, water planning and resource protection. Legal, regulatory, policy and technical issues are considered, including:

the constitutional/institutional framework for managing water resources, solving practical problems facing corporations/businesses who use water, management of the consumption and environmental uses of water and the rights of individuals and corporations to use water.

Lawyers working in water and environmental law, and non-legal professionals involved in water resource management and planning, will be apprised of the legislative instruments that control water resources in Australia, as well as the nature of water rights...
