Davis adds new Fort property
Blueprints for a year-round, waterfront hotel, restaurant and conference facility that the partnership of Jim Davis and Sheree DeLorenzo plan on building on the two acre Birdseye site remain to be seen, but the project now has a headquarters and a name.
The intended hotel project will be called "Beauport Gloucester," DeLorenzo said Wednesday in a telephone interview with the Times, and would be supervised from a three-story building on Fort Square overlooking the vacant and largely unused industrial site last known as the home of the Good Harbor Fillet until 2003.
The LLC established earlier this year to acquire the development site from Mac Bell purchased the largest property on Fort Square from the artist Lucette D. White and her husband Harold J. White in September. In addition to the building now used as a studio, the half-acre parcel includes most of the paved square itself including the main traffic lane on the east side of the one way around the square.
