What do you think it would take for this country to have protests and mass marches in the street? This?

country is going to the dogs in many ways in a drip, drip, slow fashion. What would get you marching? How bad would things need to get?

For instance 75% of our laws are now made in Brussels by unelected commissioners. The European...

Well there IS a rally in London, marching for a referendum on the EU Constitution! The Pro-Referendum rally (Google it) will be held in London on Saturday,27th October. So if you truly want the referendum, now is the time to put your feet into action! I shall definitely be there.

Can the burka banning in Western European countries with a high Muslim population be considered racist?

Should those countries adhere to this tendency? What are some advantages if (historically) non-Muslim Western countries take on this unusual attire code?

NO... many areas of culture have "dress code" requirements...

a lack of proper attire or proper foot wear will have you removed from an airplane or not allowed into a restaurant...

Repole eager to prove critics wrong with Uncle Mo

By Tom Law

Mike Repole, the owner of Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) entrants Uncle Mo and Stay Thirsty, is confident.

That is not news, not by a mile. Or should it be a mile and a quarter? We’ll get back to that idea in a moment.

Repole is often confident in his horse’s chances in the races they compete, and results show he is justified in his beliefs. Back-to-back leading owner titles at the Saratoga Race Course meeting, many graded stakes victories, and positions toward the top of the North American leading owner standings by earnings.

Repole is confident in Uncle Mo, and specifically confident in the Indian Charlie colt’s ability to handle the 1 1/4-mile distance test he will face when he meets 11 others in the $5-million Classic on Saturday at Churchill Downs. Repole’s confidence comes not from Uncle Mo’s past experience at the distance—he has never run beyond 1 1/8 miles and his only sojourn at that distance was a disappointment—but from his belief that he has the best horse in the race.

With the emergence of the Internet as a platform for the provision of online banking services, the creation of a pan-European market for banking services appeared a realistic proposition. In practice, however, this has not happened. This book asks why and argues that the creation of banking markets via the Internet relies on both available technologies and appropriate laws and regulations. The institutional and legal framework for online banking services in the single European market are examined, as is the level of legal harmonization achieved in the UK, France and Germany under the influence of the EU Directives pertaining to online banking activities.

35 - UCLA Law Review

Paul Newman plays a tanned, physically fit drifter, Ben Quick, who shows up at the country spread of Will Varner, a wealthy Southern patriarch (Orson Welles), looking for work. A member of the household tries to brush him off, but Ben persists and the patriarch eventually intervenes. Ben’s direct style and obvious willingness to work strike a chord with the elderly gent—Ben reminds Will of himself in his own youth when, as a hungry young man out to make his mark, he took control of a small business and expanded it into the large empire he now runs.

When Ben does well on his first assignment—digging post holes for a fence—Will gives him increasingly challenging work. In time, the two become friends. When the rough-hewn Quick also shows a good mind for business, the patriarch takes him, first, into his confidence, then into his household, which includes the patriarch’s wife, his slack-jawed son, Jody (Anthony Franciosa), and beauteous, strong-willed daughter, Clara (Joanne Woodward). When the wife proves incapable of producing an heir, or Junior arrives but later disappoints, caring more for a life of leisure pursuits than expansion of the family empire, the plot thickens.
