Arrival
Arriving in New York by ship is magical. Gliding serenely past the Statue of Liberty and the restored Ellis Island (the immigrant processing centre of yesteryear) in the early morning light, you’ll see Manhattan looming into view after passing under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge linking Brooklyn to Staten Island. Arriving into Southampton just doesn’t have the same cachet.
Upon arrival in New York, immigration and customs inspection takes place inside the terminal (it used to be on board ship during the crossing itself), and is conducted in an orderly, if noisy, fashion. It is a rude awakening after being cosseted in QM2s arms for the 3,200 mile voyage.
Departure portsThe regularly scheduled crossings with Queen Mary 2 depart from Southampton. Some cruises also offer a transatlantic cruise twice each year, when repositioning between winter in the Caribbean and summer in Europe (from Southampton, and European ports such as Barcelona). Crossings are typically in April and May (eastbound) and October (westbound).

Birthday) I can’t help but feel like an old lady. Of course I’m not, and anyone older than 25 is probably already feeling a twinge of irritation with my silly sounding complaints. But, in my old age, I’ve decided to look back and feature five European cities that are underrated in my opinion and definitely worth a visit.
Ghent, Belgium : During my semester studying in London , I made it to Belgium for two quick trips. On our free day, many of the other students opted to take the train to Bruges (the Colin Firth movie had just come to the London theaters) and despite the film centering around the lack of activities to do there, everyone had made up their minds to spend the day in Bruges. My friend and I had already been there, however, and instead decided to take the train to a small town called Ghent. My aunt had recommended I visit, as she had spent a year working there. After we set of a very loud church alarm by accident, we drowned our sorrows in the only way we knew how – with a little Belgium beer and ice cream covered Belgium waffles. Ghent remains one of my favorite European cities....

It was an idea in the mind of Margherita Marvasi’ s who developed it in cooperation with a Tanzanian professional team and it was her focus to follow strictly ethical principals. The business idea of MAGO’ is to produce unique clothing and accessories of the highest quality in Zanzibar. And the production is fair with an aim to make as little environmental impact as possible.
Margherita Marvasi was born in Bologna and since 2004 is living in Zanzibar. When last in Italy she resided in Rome, where she worked as a fashion journalist for Gruppo Espresso. Margherita is a self made designer. Everything she knows she learnt by a direct experience, listening and following passionate sartorialists. She started to breath the love for clothing since she was a baby in her grandmother’s house who was a tailor.
