“TRANSFORMATION through Innovation” was the theme of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (MCCI) Mandaue Business Month. This theme was very well showcased in theculminating event, EcoWalk, a fashion show with the challenge “to make a complete ensemble using scrap materials unimaginable to the conventional world of fashion.” Eco-friendly activities neither go out of style.
The challenge was posed by MCCI to Fashion Design students of the University of San Carlos (USC) to utilize industrial waste from Mandaue companies into fashionable wear.

At the outset, they were told by their original mentor, the late Sal Malto, to also use commercial fabric, when needed, which they could get from the project’s co-sponsor,
Anthill Fabric Gallery. He also asked them to make sure their creations would be wearable.
