Words Without Dance: Recommended Reading List for Teachers

As dance professionals, this collective has come together to create a professional learning community that will foster teacher-to-teacher interaction and support dance educators. In an arts based subject where the focus can all too quickly become "task-orientated" or “final showcase” driven, our collective would like to move dance beyond simply teaching skills and towards a movement that focuses on overall dance learning. We believe that starting this blog site will bring new ideas to teachers, support each other’s program goals, and provide an opportunity to reflect on various methods to help our students to become dancers. Above all, we hope this site joins dance teachers together, opens communication lines, and expands our resources by bringing together as many opinions, advice and knowledge on a subject that we feel so passionate about.
